Director, Information Systems & Information Security

I owned the technology organization for a defense research lab, spanning infrastructure, service delivery, and information security across multiple sites, including classified environments. I directed the technical audits that made the company one of the first 50 defense contractors nationwide to earn CMMC 2.0 Level 2 certification for the corporate network, with a perfect 110/110 NIST 800-171 score, and built a threat hunting and incident response capability in partnership with federal law enforcement.

I added functions the department didn't have before, such as an IT PMO and an Asset Management team, overhauled the policy set so it lined up cleanly with Industrial Security, Legal, Export, and HR, and introduced AI tooling so the organization could use LLMs securely, from business data access to software engineering. I stayed hands-on throughout, architecting and administering the hybrid environment underneath, including Active Directory, Entra ID, Duo, and Microsoft 365 GCC-High.

Manager, Information Systems

I ran Information Systems as it grew from a support function into a full-service technology organization, including service desk, systems administration and engineering, enterprise architecture, and cybersecurity and compliance, while keeping annual attrition low throughout. I stood up a formal cybersecurity program and the team behind it, built around NIST SP 800-171 and DFARS 252.204-7012, which laid the groundwork for the CMMC certification that followed.

On the operations side I kept 24/7 mission-critical IT running across distributed enterprise and classified networks nationwide, holding 99.99% availability for engineering and manufacturing. As headcount and site count grew, I rebuilt the customer service model around better tooling and a larger service desk, and implemented ServiceNow ITSM to give users and service staff an improved workflow.

Systems Engineer

I engineered and administered the core Windows infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and Exchange. I also wrote PowerShell tooling to audit domain health and system integrity, so configuration drift and performance bottlenecks surfaced across 1,200+ endpoints before users felt them. I worked alongside external incident response partners to investigate a network breach and led remediation of the affected systems. I also rolled out Duo multi-factor authentication, starting at the enterprise VPN and eventually covering 50+ applications and tools, along with smartcard authentication for laptops, desktops, and laboratory systems.

Sr. Systems Engineer

I engineered high-density VMware clusters hosting 200+ production workloads, tuning resource scheduling and storage I/O to get the most out of the hardware while holding 99.99% availability. I architected and stress-tested the enterprise disaster recovery strategy, driving down recovery time objectives for mission-critical datasets and proving zero data loss through simulated failure events. I also ran a physical data center migration end to end, coordinating third-party logistics for secure rack relocation and executing a failover plan that resulted in zero unplanned downtime for the business.

Systems Engineer

As an MSP consultant I engineered and maintained the IT infrastructure for 10+ distinct businesses simultaneously, standing up centralized remote monitoring to hold 99.9% uptime across a genuinely heterogeneous set of environments. I was the primary escalation point for complex system failures, delivering rapid-response engineering on high-severity incidents and consistently beating tight SLAs. I also standardized firewall configurations and automated patch cycles, so every client sat behind a consistent security posture rather than whatever they had inherited.
